Role description

This role is a member of a specialised structural engineering team focused on providing high quality composite engineering and processing advice. As part of a team which responds to enquires across the APAC region, this role will deal with customers internally, externally, in NZ and overseas. The role should therefore promote Gurit and its products/services in a manner consistent with the culture and values of the company. The role is also to be proactive in assisting with improving the effectiveness and proficiency of the engineering division.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Specifying and developing high quality composite designs and laminate specifications in line with customer requirements
  • Developing and identifying innovative and efficient engineering solutions for our customers
  • Develop and maintain professional customer relationships
  • Facilitating material testing programs
  • Working as part of a team to plan and manage engineering projects

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will have a proven track record within structural design, having performed in a similar role previously for a minimum of five years. You will possess a sound knowledge of design and analysis of composite structures and marine structures. High-level analytical computer literacy using Excel is essential in addition to 2-D AutoCAD skills. Professional experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is preferred.

  • Bachelor (or higher) degree in Engineering, specialising in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture


You will be self-motivated, have a proactive approach to tasks and projects. You will be flexible and resourceful and, whilst maintaining the focus required, you will take responsibility to deliver to agreed timescales. You will be able to work to tight, demanding deadlines and customer jemands.
