CMM

The CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine) is integral to the automotive manufacturing process. Measuring accurately to 1/1000th mm using a touch probe system, it is possible to gain instant and reliable information through the data reports generated during the measurement cycle.

Each production part has an individual computer programmed measurement cycle. The composite parts are loaded on to individually designed fixture to ensure the part is easily accessible to the probe.

Once mounted to the fixture the position is verified by the CMM before the main cycle begins. Once the CMM program is complete a .CSV file and PDF report are produced for visual clarification and diagnosis.

It can then be recognised whether the part has reached the customers required specifications and thus the quality determined. The CMM also has the capability to laser/surface scan parts, and this will be utilised on future projects.
