Composites for Airducts from Gurit

Composites for Airducts

Materials used in the ventilation and environmental control system of an aircraft have to fulfil stringent performance requirements and must meet the most recent and advanced health and safety regulations since all passengers are exposed to the ventilated air:

  • Non hazardous, non-volatile resin system
  • Compliance with REACH and AP2091
  • Air-tight after cure
  • Out of autoclave and easy processing

COST-SAVINGS WITH PN900 PREPREGS
For ten years, Airbus has employed Gurit’s uncompromising non-volatile cyanate ester PN900. This resin complies with Airbus' latest AP2091 standard and forthcoming European regulations on hazardous materials.

By replacing traditional phenolic air ducting prepregs with Gurit’s PN900 cyanate ester prepregs, cost-saving production processes like vacuum-bag or press curing can be used to produce already airtight ducts.

In addition, the fact that free phenol and formaldehyde are no longer emitted during manufacturing makes PN900 also an advantageous choice.
