Design Engineer - Engineered Structures

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team and become involved with our high profile, structural designs for some of the world’s most demanding composite applications.

The role holder will be required to maintain project and design information and liaise with client and scantling authorities.  
Key tasks will include:

• Specifying and developing high quality composite designs and laminate specifications in line with customer requirements.
• Developing and identifying innovative and efficient engineering solutions for our customers.
• Working as part of a team to plan and manage engineering projects.
• Building successful relationships with our clients at all stages of a project.
• Have a good understanding of structural design fundamentals in calculating beam and panel requirements. 
  
• Be able to calculate theoretical material properties for composite fabric.
• Write professional reports containing specifications, weight and cost estimate or laminate options.
• Assist in the research of new composite technology and testing of materials.

Applicants will be educated to Bachelor (or high) degree in Engineering, specializing in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, Composite Materials or Naval Architecture.  The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and able to demonstrate a methodical and detailed approach to the management of projects along with a working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, as well as analysis of marine and composite structures.  Medium level 2-D AutoCAD skills required.
