Composites for Flooring Panels

Composites for Flooring Panels

Cabin and cargo flooring panels are produced to meet both varying strength requirements and the most stringent aircraft interior fire regulations. Panels under the seats take the lightest loads, those in the aisle area must support foot traffic and trolley loads, while the galley and lavatory areas are designed to cope with even heavier weights.

Gurit offers three distinct advanced composite prepreg materials designed specifically for aircraft flooring:

Carbon Fabric Passenger Floor

Carbon Unidirectional Passenger Floor

Recent requirements on higher strength and stiffness at lower weight for A380 passenger flooring have resulted in Gurit’s advanced range of unidirectional carbon fibre, low-smoke epoxy EP137 prepregs.

They are perfectly suitable for the realisation of high performance light-weight composite structures and meet the highest requirements of structural interior applications:

S2-Glass Fabric Cargo Floor

Cost savings in materials and life-cycle is always of concern in aircraft component manufacturing. Gurit’s coloured EP121 and EP141 epoxy resins with S2-glass reinforcement therefore provide a perfect cargo flooring system with extended life cycle by improved impact behaviour:
