Carbon Ocean Yachts/ Rogers 82' - "Aegir"

AEGIR - Sailing At the recent annual International Superyacht Society (ISS) awards for design and leadership the 82’ cruiser racer ‘Aegir’ won the ISS Best Sailing Design Award: 24m-40m.

SP-High Modulus supplied both materials and engineering services to the build of the yacht which was designed by Rogers Yacht Design and built by Carbon Ocean Yachts.

The brief for Aegir required the best of both worlds, a cruiser that could also compete at a high level of racing. SP-High Modulus worked closely with Rogers Yacht Design, frequently meeting to ensure effective solutions could be found to any issues that arose. The mutual benefit of a close working relationship meant that Rogers were able to have a clear understanding of structural requirements and constraints and SP-High Modulus could be updated with information on the design options and intentions.

Alongside the engineering services SP-High Modulus also provided a number of the materials for the build. These included SE 70 prepreg, SPRINT® ST 70 and ST 95 for local reinforcements, SA 70 adhesive film, Ampreg 22 for wet laminated components and Corecell™ P-foam.

The ISS awards are known as the ‘Oscars’ of the Superyacht industry and nominations for the awards are made by members who are all yachting professionals, suppliers, brokers, designers and builders. Finalists are judged for their external appearance, internal design, innovation and practicality by an independent international panel.

Aegir has already shown her racing pedigree at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2011, narrowly missing first place in the cruiser racer class.
