Red Maple, the Tooling Business of Gurit

With plans to broaden its offering to Wind Energy customers and in particular to the wind turbine blade manufacturers employing infusion technology, Gurit has acquired Suzhou Red Maple Wind, a world-wide leading manufacturer of moulds for the manufacture of wind turbine blades.

Founded in 2008, Suzhou Red Maple Wind is a market leading Chinese mould manufacturer specialising in the production of high quality wind blade moulds at competitive prices and with short lead-times, traditionally supplying its moulds predominantly to the Chinese rotor blade manufacturers.

With plans to expand both its product and customer portfolio beyond infusion technology moulds and beyond China, Red Maple has successfully started to export its moulds globally. The company has ramped up operations and embarked on a major expansion project that will include a new tooling facility in Suzhou, China that will be ready for use in summer 2010. This facility is designed to build moulds for long blades and will, among others, also have a 65m precision CNC capability for mould plug production.

This expansion combined with Gurit's existing materials manufacturing, processing and engineering know-how, will allow Red Maple, the Tooling business of Gurit, to leverage its position as a global moulds leader, supplying high quality moulds at competitive rates and in market leading delivery times.
