SP-High Modulus to Highlight extended Core Materials range at METS 2011
26th October 2011, Isle of Wight, UK – SP-High Modulus, the marine business of Gurit, is exhibiting at the forthcoming METS exhibition from 15th – 17th November 2011. METS is the world’s largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry.
Exhibiting at the show in Hall 11, stand 11.439, SP-High Modulus – which supplies the superyacht, production, commercial and race boat markets – will showcase its comprehensive range of marine composite products. As an integral element of some of the most exciting and innovative boats on the water today, SP-High Modulus offers a complete partnership to designers, project managers and boatyards to maximise the potential of their boat designs.
Broadening the Core Range
In response to the demand for multiple core solutions, SP-High Modulus has extended the structural core product range available to customers. The range now covers PVC, PET, Balsa and SAN core types, all with a distinct range of properties and attributes.
Corecell™ M-Foam is SP-High Modulus’ premier structural marine foam core that offers a complete cost-effective package comprising high shear strength, low weight and high elongation, low resin uptake for infusion processes and high temperature stability for prepreg processes.
PVCell™ G-Foam is a closed cell, cross linked PVC foam. As a general purpose core material commonly used in composite sandwich structures, it provides a superior strength to weight ratio for all composite applications
G-PET Recyclable Structural Foam is a highly adaptable, recyclable, thermoplastic foam with a good balance of mechanical properties, temperature resistance, density and cost for a wide range of applications
and production processes.
Balsaflex® – With Gurit’s acquisition of Balseurop, SP-High Modulus is now able to complement its range of structural foam core materials with a complete Balsa wood offering.
B³ SmartPac
Alongside the extended core offering SP-High Modulus will be promoting
the B³ SmartPac solution. The B³ SmartPacc is a versatile construction
solution that helps builders manufacture composite components more
efficiently and cost-effectively than ever before. The B³ SmartPac
solution comprises of optimised structural design with pre-cut
reinforcements and core materials, designed to reduce complexity and
cost in production boatbuilding.
Spabond 540
Also being promoted at METS is the RINA approved, high-performance
marine adhesive Spabond 540. Designed for bonding large polyester and
epoxy GRP structures, Spabond 540’s extended working times, exceptional
toughness and high strength make it ideal for bonding
stringers/bulkheads, frames and hull-to-deck joints on medium to large
production boats. This tough, gap filling adhesive offers low exotherm
and shrinkage in thick bondlines and is available in a range of
working/cure times.
Staff from the Sales, Technical and Marketing teams will be available at
the show to discuss SP-High Modulus’ product portfolio. Further product
