About the Apprentice Scheme

THE FOCUS

Not every student wants to attend university and, a time when higher qualifications and more experience is demanded by employers, our apprenticeship programme offers school leavers the opportunity to begin their careers whilst continuing to progress with academic qualifications through our structured apprenticeship programme. We believe that our apprentices will provide us with young talent to help grow our business potential whilst providing an alternative route into the workplace for those who don’t wish to go on to university.

THE JOB

The apprenticeship takes either 4 years (aged 17 on joining) or 3 years (aged 18 or over on joining) to complete and allows Apprentices to benefit from continued academic achievement whilst starting their careers. For the duration of the programme Apprentices work closely with Mentors and our training department who monitor and review progress both at college and in the workplace and guide them towards becoming a fully integrated team member.

The 4-year apprentice programme is structured as follows;

Foundation Year

  • Funded full time college study and holiday work at Gurit (for those aged between 17 and 18)

Year 1 – Onsite at Gurit combined with Part-time study

Apprentices will also have an introduction to:

  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Environmental issues
  • Health & Safety
  • Quality
  • Communication and Team working

Year 2 – Onsite at Gurit combined with Part-time study

Year 3 – Onsite at Gurit combined with Part-time study
