WIND ENERGY
Gurit has extensive experience in the manufacture of composite materials for the wind energy market which is complemented by expertise in blade manufacturing processes and structural design. This broad understanding of composites and associated technologies has enabled Gurit to remain at the forefront of materials development for wind turbine blades. Gurit is part of the equation that makes wind energy a technical and also a commercial success story by helping to decrease manufacturing costs of wind blades and enhancing the efficiency of wind power installations.

TOOLING
Established in 2007 Red Maple is one of the largest wind turbine blade mould manufacturers worldwide, producing over 40 mould sets a year. Situated in Taicang, China, Red Maple has over 600 skilled employees, and is dedicated to the design and manufacture of high quality, innovative mould technology. With complete vertical integration of the mould production process, Red Maple sets the new benchmark for tooling system cost and delivery time.

TRANSPORTATION
Automotive – The automotive industry uses the unique product characteristics of advanced composites in a variety of ways. At Gurit, we have a long-standing tradition of supplying innovative composite materials to the automotive and the auto sport sectors. The production of so called Class A composite car body parts is Gurit’s latest automotive “industry first” innovation. Today, Gurit is producing complete car body panel sets for several OEM’s, including Aston Martin’s DBS models.

Aerospace – Gurit is a global leader in the development and manufacture of advanced composite materials and solutions. Pre-impregnated composite materials (prepregs) are a key product speciality of Gurit and combine fibres and resin matrices as an easy-to-apply material. With their unique combination of properties combining excellent mechanical performance and the fulfilment of the highest international JAR/FAR fire protection regulations regarding flammability, smoke, toxicity (FST) and heat release, our qualified Aerospace Prepregs are perfectly suited for many interior and structure applications.

Rail – Composites provide light-weight solutions for railway vehicles saving up to 60% of the weight compared with traditional components. Lower overall weight translates into less stress, faster acceleration and higher speeds, as well as reduced starting and stopping inertia these are all important criteria in recent high-speed and metropolitan railway projects in Europe and China.

MARINE
Lighter, Stronger, Faster – three qualities that are more important than ever in a world increasingly focussed on higher performance. Fortunately for the world’s top boat designers, SP-High Modulus, the marine business of Gurit, has been delivering those qualities for over 30 years. SP–High Modulus is a leading manufacturer and supplier of composite materials to the global boatbuilding market – integrating structural design, materials science, manufacturing technology and process engineering to ensure a solution tailored to individual specifications and needs.

ENGINEERED STRUCTURES
The Engineered Structures business unit brings together Gurit’s global capabilities in engineering, materials science, prototyping and manufacturing. Gurit can offer any combination of these skills to realise the most advanced composite structures.

TECHNOLOGY
Technology at Gurit is divided into the three key areas of composite part manufacture; structural design, materials research and development, and composite processing. The combined knowledge from these technical groups allows Gurit to offer optimised composite solutions to our customers providing significant performance and cost benefit.
