Role description

The Composite Structural Engineer is responsible for producing high quality composite structural engineering design, laminate specifications and managing the production of formal documentation. The role will require project management skills and regular client liaison.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Specifying and developing high quality composite designs and laminate specifications in line with client requirements
  • Developing and identifying innovative and efficient engineering solutions
  • Developing and maintaining professional client relationships
  • Writing high quality reports and other formal documentation
  • Working as part of a team to plan and manage engineering projects
  • Contributing to the office technical development

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will have a proven track record within structural design, having performed in a similar role previously for a minimum of two years. You will possess a sound knowledge of design and analysis of composite structures. Experience within marine structures would be an advantage. High-level analytical computer literacy using Excel is essential in addition to 2-D AutoCAD skills. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, specialising in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, composite materials or Naval Architecture is essential. Professional experience with Finite Element Analysis would be advantageous. You will be self-motivated and have a proactive approach to tasks and projects. You will be flexible and resourceful and, whilst maintaining the focus required, you will take responsibility to deliver to agreed timescales. You will be able to work to tight, demanding deadlines and customer demands.
