Gurit and Hawart to cooperate in mould and transport systems manufacturing for wind rotor blades

Zürich/Switzerland and Ganderkesee/Germany, September 18, 2012. Gurit (SIX Swiss Exchange: GUR) and HAWART Sondermaschinenbau GmbH have agreed to closely cooperate in the areas of mould and transport systems production for wind energy rotor blades to leverage the strengths of both companies to benefit their global customer base. The cooperation does not involve any cross capital engagements.

As the leading independent manufacturer of wind turbine rotor blade moulds, Gurit has a fully integrated industrial production site in Taicang/China. The moulds are marketed globally.

HAWART Sondermaschinenbau GmbH has its production site at Ganderkesee, near Bremen/Germany and is a leading tooling frame and component manufacturer, also offering transport systems for rotor blades and tower segments.

The two companies have agreed to partner without any capital engagement. In Europe, Gurit customers get access to a local and highly qualified installation and service organization for moulds. Additionally, they will benefit from the global availability of the HAWART transport systems. HAWART customers benefit through the cooperation from the fully integrated, industrial mould making capability of Gurit and the option to mass produce transport systems in the future.

Starting now, customers can choose between Gurit or HAWART hinge systems which technically complement one other.

“HAWART Sondermaschinenbau GmbH is an important partner for us to strengthen our presence in Europe and increase our global offering,“ said Dag Kirschke, Sales Manager Europe Gurit Tooling. „Together, we can use the respective strengths of the two organizations more effectively to offer our customers more attractive products and systems in terms of quality, production time and cost“, added Bing Chen, General Manager Gurit Tooling (Red Maple).

„Through the cooperation with Gurit Tooling we leverage the potential for synergies in the development and manufacturing of customer specific solutions. HAWART will be able to expand its market position with optimized products, especially in the global wind energy market”, says Dipl-Ing. Willy B. Körner, Geschäftsführer, HAWART Sondermaschinenbau GmbH.
